Many people suffer from acne at some point in their lifetime. Generally acne clears up as people get older and is only a distant memory by the time the person reaches adulthood. It can either cause them to choose to cover up their scarring with heavy makeup or to shy away from situations where they will have to deal with people and possibly face further ridicule.

Formerly extroverted people can become shy and fearful of new things and experiences because of the bullying they’ve faced as a result of the way their skin looks. Many studies have shown that more attractive people get raises and are thought more highly of in a business setting. A person who has acne scarring may be passed over for a promotion because of their low self-esteem or even the way they look. This can cause acne scar suffers to make less money in their professional lives and fear making positive changes as they think they will never get ahead due to their appearance.
